The Watch Links
This Christmas, I bought my husband a Fossil smartwatch. He works super hard and his phone is his line of communication for everything, especially me. I send text and Hangout messages about everything all day long and many time he just doesn’t see it or misses it because he put his phone down or is not at his computer. So when I saw that the Fossil smartwatch actually looked like a regular watch with all the functionality, I knew it was the perfect gift, but the price wasn’t.
With the help of a Macy’s Deal of the Day, a discounted gift card and Plenti points, I got it down to a price I was willing to pay and he got a great Christmas gadget and the look on his face warmed my heart. The only issue was, like his Fossils in the past, it was a little too big so he would need links removed.
Our first inclination was we need drop it off at the jeweler and have him remove the links. That is what we have done in the past, however in our conversation this morning, we realized that, it’s not in the budget. He was willing to wait until January to see if we could fit it in the budget (bless his heart). That is when a stroke of inspiration hit me. I wonder if we can do this ourselves.
I googled it and sure enough, there are tons of videos on how to remove the links with a few basic tools that we already have around the house. When I told him, he thanked me and a the same time reminded me that this is what it is all about, thinking differently to save even $5-$10 here and there.
That really is what this entire journey is about. No matter how small or large, every change matters. It pulls us away from being normal on down the road to living life differently.
The links will always be a reminder.
